American Family Table

Update 12/19/07: American Family Table has changed its name to Northside Family Restaurant.

In a word: Inexpensive mainstream fare. Looks like a good bet for kids and seniors.

The specs: #0004
Address, hours & details via Isthmus.

JM ate the BBQ beef sandwich and fries with a lemonade and worked the February 1981 Atlantic Monthly cryptic crossword.
Nichole ate the meatloaf and fries with chicken soup and a salad with a glass of house burgundy.
The bill was $17, or $8.50/person, plus tip.
JM gave American Family Table a B-; N gave American Family Table a B (see our grading rubric).

American Family Table strongly reminded Nichole of the Greek family restaurant where she worked for one summer, but that didn't dampen her enjoyment too much. (The burgundy helped - it was room temperature and cheap, but worth it.) She liked the hammered brass portrait of Mother Theresa and the giant gumball machine that looked like a huge Tom Servo.

The food was inexpensive and decent. JM's fries arrived a little cold and the waitress disappeared for a long while between dropping off the entrees and checking back after we were ready to get going.
