By navigable, do you mean open water? That is, after going through the canal, am I allowed to go back through east to west?

Only travel in one direction. Your rudder is broken and you cannot turn around.

Um, it's kind of impossible to reach any U.S. state from that end of the Panama Canal without changing your bearing at least twice, if you've just traveled straight through it.

I was just trying to point out that traversing the canal was meant to be done in one direction only. Okay, immediately after exiting the canal, some SCUBA divers arrive at the side of your ship and fix the rudder, so now you can go in any direction you choose. But you find you don't have enough money to pay the lockkeeper for a return trip through the canal.

You guys must have gone to Weehawken High School, located somewhere in New Jersey, because only someone from this area of the country could have thought up something like this. Is this boat the 42nd St ferry or what?

Wow! You must be psychic or something. Sue actually is almost from somewhere around Weehawken.
