63...too, too funny.

Yes, Don. My spell check ain't what it used to be.

Sorry about my penchant for pointing out spelling errors. One of my sidelines is editing manuscripts for spelling and grammatical errors. Its just force of habit. I'm really not that anal. It's rare that spelling anomalies are intentional and are actually part of the clue, but just in case...

I see no need for apology for a nitpicking approach to spelling. In many puzzles, such things as letter count and frequency may be significant, and require careful editing and double- and triple-checking on the writer's part to be sure all is precisely as it should be. Even if these are not in the instant case significant, correct spelling and grammar should give the solver added confidence in the author that the puzzle is properly presented as solvable.
There is a misspelling in my upcoming puzzle, but obviously not a simple typo, and as it is repeated three times in half a sentence, it should be obvious that it is an intentional element of the clue.

I agree completely, which is why I acknowledge the error and change it. I just wish I were better at seeing it in the first place.

I did read you had an upcoming puzzle here, Bob--and I (probably rightly) assume I'll be glued to that one the rest of summer...which is certainly not a bad thing!
As for the current puzzle, I'll say that I'm definitely having a fun time with it. It's probably one of the easier ones I've seen around here, but there are still some stubborn clues here and there that I just can't seem to crack! That's the fun of all puzzles, of course, because I have actually had some fun epiphanies and "A-ha!" moments with this one just like any other. Now, back to poring over some earlier clues...
Also, quick clarification for when the end of the puzzle comes that I probably should have asked earlier: the "normal" e-mail address is [email protected], correct? Just wanted to double check...thanks.

Aren't we only assuming that this is one of the "easier" contests? What if we only think we know the theme of the answers, and the real theme turns out to be something else? After all, the complete set we seem to be currently pulling from does not appear to satisfy the "7n+1" condition mentioned in the introduction.

As long as you and I are drawing from the same set, which we probably are, it does satisfy the 7n+1 condition by my count. Perhaps you're counting both possibilities for the very first member of this set. (I'm assuming only one of these should be included.)

Mike,
You do have the right e-mail address.
And I agree with Will.
