“Moonglow and Theme from ‘Picnic’”… there’s a title sure to sell a million copies. I wonder if people like Morris Stoloff would have been the next Mozart or Beethoven if rock hadn’t made them all irrelevant. This little number is OK, but doesn’t move me. The piano and strings sound shrill to my 50-years-after ear. The music reminds me neither of a moon or a picnic, and the less one thinks about William Holden the better. This version is superior to George Cates', which should be here any day now.
What's wrong with William Holden?

don't like your comments. theme from picnic is probably the best melody, together with moonglow, that has ever graced the movie screen. i am listening to it from 76 year old ears however. the music today stinks!!!! oh well, to each his own.

Well when it comes to movie music, I like this song as much as, if not more than, today's movie music but I was thinking of the song as a pop single.
Thanks for commenting.

I lost this site somehow. I nominate "Call Me Irresponsible" from "Papa's Delicate Condition" starring Jackie Gleason. Maybe it's because I used to drink in my younger days.
