Gene Vincent was the first of several singers including Terry Stafford and Ral Donner to get a bump from sounding like Elvis. But this song has A LOT going for it other than just sounding like Elvis. Even if the guitar doesn’t come through cleanly, it’s perfect early rock. And lyric where Gene declares that his girl is “queen of all the teens.” What a great line! Gene is just singing his best and really putting his heart into a lyric as consequential as “Be-Bop-A-Lula” and you know what? He really means it.
Man, that was close: 100 words.
