The first side of Elvis’ biggest single, “Hound Dog” is a great song for so many reasons that it seems pointless to list them. Of course, Elvis is sort of pulling a Pat Boone here and covering an R&B hit (by a woman no less) from a few years earlier. And as is the case with Elvis, no one seems to remember the original once the cover is a hit. So, by extension, Elvis was part of the establishment, but the rest of the establishment didn’t rock. And America rewarded him with 11 weeks at the top.
Elvis rocks harder than Pat Boone, though, right?
Cute dog btw!
