Last one: The British Invasion. Awesome! '64 had 7 big songs in the top 200: 1. I Want to Hold Your Hand - The Beatles, 9. I Get Around - The Beach Boys, 43. The House of the Rising Sun - The Animals, 60. Oh, Pretty Woman - Roy Orbison and the Candy Men, 91. She Loves You - The Beatles, 94. A Hard Day's Night - The Beatles and 150. Chapel of Love - The Dixie Cups. This leaves:
- There! I Said It Again - Bobby Vinton
- Can't Buy Me Love - The Beatles
- Hello, Dolly! - Louis Armstrong
- My Guy - Mary Wells
- Love Me Do - The Beatles
- A World Without Love - Peter and Gordon
- Rag Doll - The Four Seasons
- Everybody Loves Somebody - Dean Martin
- Where Did Our Love Go - The Supremes
- Do Wah Diddy Diddy - Manfred Mann
- Baby Love - The Supremes
- Leader of the Pack - The Shangri-La's
- Ringo - Lorne Greene
- Mr. Lonely - Bobby Vinton
- Come See About Me - The Supremes
- I Feel Fine - The Beatles
9&10 feel missing. 13&14 are terrible. I don't get Leader of the Pack. I just don't. See you for a whole new world tomorrow.
Another awesome year. All the Beatles' tunes were huge, but even I admit you've got to stop somewhere or they'll occupy (so to speak) 99% of the list. So leaving them out, I'd argue Martin's song probably deserves a spot (on the "iconic" theory), as does Leader of the Pack (as noted before, to give you a requisite teenage tragedy tune)and Do Wah Diddy is just so damn FUN!

Leader of the Pack may not be great music, but it's a great memory maker. I guess you had to be there.
