None of the nominees belong on the list.

There 25 #1 hits in 1965. Eliminating those that made our top 200 list 1955-2010 leaves us with 18. Removing those that made the 1955-2000 list drops another 4 to leave 14. If I take away favorites of others here as expressed in the Year Spotlight, I take away another three to 11.

"This Diamond Ring" Gary Lewis & the Playboys
"Eight Days a Week" The Beatles
"I'm Telling You Now" Freddie and the Dreamers
"Mrs. Brown, You've Got a Lovely Daughter" Herman's Hermits
"Ticket to Ride" The Beatles
"Back in My Arms Again" The Supremes
"I Got You Babe" Sonny & Cher
"Eve of Destruction" Barry McGuire
"Hang on Sloopy" The McCoys
"Get Off of My Cloud" The Rolling Stones
"I Hear a Symphony" The Supremes

If I say you must pick 5, which 5 do you pick?

Ken

Damn, that's a strong year (validating my view of how competitive the 60s were)! So I'd leave your list pretty much as is, but swap the Gary Lewis for, believe it or not, the Stones tune (one of their more irritating songs).

Cliff Arroyo

The mid 60's were so competitive and strong, there's nothing in the 5 (or the others you list) that I don't either like or respect enough to not want nominated.

For worst here: least strong, it would be a toss up between McGuire and this for me.

I think the video is deleted, can someone check the video please, I would love to watch it.
